Governance

Everychild Partnership Trust is led by Members and Trustees, with Local Governing Bodies based at our six primary school settings.  Please visit the schools' websites to find out more about our LGB's!

Members

The Members of the Trust are equivalent to shareholders of a trading company but as the Trust is charitable with no power to distribute profit to shareholders, the Members are best viewed as guardians of the constitution, changing the Articles if necessary and ensuring the charitable object is fulfilled. Each Member’s liability is limited to £10 and, in view of the limited liability and therefore scope for accountability, they have limited governance and no day to day management responsibilities. (taken from Scheme of Delegation)

Board of Trustees

The Trustees oversee the management and administration of the Trust and the Schools run by the Trust and delegate authority and responsibility to others, including executive officers and individuals who are locally based who can undertake the day to day management and governance of the Schools. The Trust Board will continue to have the necessary strategic and legal oversight of the Trust and will monitor all activities; determining the strategic direction of the Trust, assessing the performance of the Schools and establishing and reviewing the policies and practices governing the life of the Schools. (taken from Scheme of Delegation)

Trust Committees

Finance Audit & Risk Committee

The Finance, Audit & Risk Committee is to maintain oversight of:

  • Governance and internal control
  • Risk management
  • Financial management and value for money
  • Premises Management
  • Resource Management (including Human Resources)
  • Internal and External audit
  • Financial statements and annual reports.

In addition, the Committee will operate a Pay Review (Remuneration) function to receive, review and make decisions on the remuneration of senior trust executives (with the exception of the CEO) and Headteachers, as set out in the Pay Policy and Scheme of Delegation.  (taken from Terms of Reference/Governance Handbook)

Education Committee

With regard to the Trust, the Education Committee is to maintain oversight of:

  • Monitoring and evaluating pupil progress and attainment
  • quality of teaching,
  • ensuring consistently high quality learning experiences
  • delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum in keeping with the Trust’s aims and vision
  • meeting all pupil needs and legal requirements.
  • Monitor and review the Trust Self-Evaluation document as a live and dynamic ongoing assessment of   progress against areas for development

(taken from Terms of Reference/Governance Handbook)

LGBs

The Trust Board has established “Local Governing Bodies” for each of the Schools and their power is derived from the Trust Board. Like Trustees on the Trust Board, the individuals, known as the “Local Governing Body Members”, serving on a Local Governing Body, are also responsible for fulfilling a local governance role, in conjunction with the Head teacher, who is responsible for the internal organisation, management and control of the School (taken from Scheme of Delegation).
